Y does my computer run certain pc games better on higher settings than low settings?

i would guess that it runs better on low settings but certain games run better when i turn the settings up higher and i cannot figure out y. not complaining just wondering.

The computer also most games run on your computer has to reset your computers settings to fit its own so it can run faster with no sound ^_^.

screen resolution? = huge component in that

game updates?
video card updates? firmware? etc.

check everything if it bothers you

if not, then be happy :)
